- It is used as an ingredient insunscreens to absorb UVB (ultraviolet) rays.
- Octyl salicylate with conjugate PI bond, can absorb ultraviolet light, and ultraviolet energy released as heat so as to achieve the aim of sunscreen, octyl salicylate can absorb 280-300nm wavelength of ultraviolet ray, as UVB absorber used in sunscreen makeup.
