The Main Uses of Glyoxal

Glyoxal is an organic compound with the formula OCHCHO.The first commercial glyoxal source was in Lamotte, France, started in 1960.Other production sites exist also in the US ,Germany and China .

Glyoxal is a very basic chemical raw materials,application field is very extensive,also,because glyoxal is Environmentally friendly chemicals product.So,received the favour of many chemicals importers .

Glyoxal is mainly used in textile industry, fiber treating agent can increase the spinning of cotton, nylon and other fiber shrinkage and anti-wrinkle, durability is ironing finishing agent. Coated paper and textile finishes use large amounts of glyoxal as a crosslinker for starch-based formulations.

Acetaldehyde is gelatin, gelatin, cheese, pva and starch, such as insoluble adhesives, glyoxal is also used in leather industry and production of waterproof matches. Glyoxal is organic synthesis of raw materials. By acetaldehyde, formaldehyde and urea in the presence of sodium carbonate heating condensation get a 2 d – resin, used as fabric finishing agent; Formaldehyde, glyoxal and ammonium sulfate reaction, synthesis imidazole ring, and then synthetic imidazoles antifungal medicine clotrimazole, miconazole, etc;

Glyoxal and o-phenylendiamine cyclization of benzene and pyrazine: it is pyrazinamide anti-tb drug intermediates. Produced by glyoxal hydroxy phenyl acetic acid has industrial production in Japan, used as antibiotic intermediates and vitamin A series products. Glyoxal is also used in berberine hydrochloride and sulfa drugs sulfanilamide methoxyl pyrazine synthesis. Also used for pest control agent, deodorant, body preservatives, sand mould curing agent.

Glyoxal is supplied typically as a 40% solution.
